The Hockeyroos have downed Switzerland 3-0 to revive hopes of directly qualifying for this year’s World Cup.

The Hockeyroos’ triumph was underpinned by two goals from Neasa Flynn in the crunch match at a qualification tournament in Chile.

The win sets the Australians up for a semi-final against Ireland on Sunday – the victor will qualify for the World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands later this year.

But the Hockeyroos bounced back with a clinical win over Switzerland.

Flynn opened scoring with a well-taken field goal in the eighth minute and added another in the 51st from a penalty corner.

Five minutes later, Australia’s Mihaylia Howell scored with a field goal to ice the result.
