A woman has been struck by her own luxury car in a violent carjacking in an elite Brisbane suburb.

Police say intruders targeted a home on Hopetown St at Ascot in the early hours of Wednesday, trying to steal a black BMW X3 parked at the property.

One of the occupants, a 34-year-old woman, confronted the thieves and tried to intervene, and was struck by the vehicle as it sped away.

She was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with leg and hip injuries.

The stolen BMW was later found abandoned on Borrows St in nearby Virginia, but the thieves remain on the run.

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the car between 4.30am and 5.30am on Wednesday to come forward as investigations continue.
