Bright colors and florals abound at the New York Botanical Garden’s annual orchid show.

ImageAn illustration shows a man from the waist up in a suit jacket and tie. His arms are folded and several oversized orchids are behind him. Text below the image reads: “The Haupt Conservatory at The New York Botanical Garden teems with orchids — shocks of hot pink and lemon yellow buds, popcorn-size petals and a flower like a dancer’s skirt mid-twirl. The theme of this year’s show is Mexican modernism, highlighting the works of the architect Luis Barrágan. On Saturday evenings, the flowers are dramatically lit for the visitors sipping cocktails, admiring the setting and joining the cumbia sonidera dance party.
