A WA man has been charged after he was allegedly caught with knuckle dusters in his carry-on luggage on a flight to Exmouth.
The Australian Federal Police said the 20-year-old was travelling from Perth to Exmouth on June 16 when security screening staff at Perth Airport allegedly found the item in his bag.
The knuckle dusters were seized and the man was questioned before he was charged by summons with carrying or possessing a prohibited weapon.
The maximum penalty is five years’ imprisonment or a $60,000 fine.

AFP Superintendent Peter Hatch said, “Perth Airport’s screening processes are strict for a reason and there is a zero-tolerance policy to anyone attempting to take prohibited items on a flight.”
“During this incident, Perth Airport security, in partnership with the AFP, prevented a potential threat to the travelling public and workers,” he said.
“It is an offence to carry knuckle dusters in a public place, including in the airport and on planes.”
The accused is due to face Perth Magistrates Court on Monday.
