A shooting incident has occurred after a Slovak government meeting at a location outside Bratislava, news agency TASR reports.

A Reuters witness said he heard several shots and that he saw a man being detained by police.

The Reuters witness said he saw security officials pushing someone into a car and driving off.

Local media reports said Prime Minister Robert Fico was injured in the shooting and taken to hospital.

The incident took place in the town of Handlova, 150km northeast of the capital, according to the news television station TA3.
