“Should I Encourage My Daughter to Pursue a Career in Dance or Suggest a Fallback Plan?”

Dear Aunty,

My daughter wants to follow in your footsteps and become a professional dancer. She has the skills, she’s been entering and winning major competitions since she was six, but I am just worried about the uncertainty of the industry and her earning potential. I am happy with her to continue to dance but I would like her to attend university so she at least has a fallback plan. She disagrees and thinks if she doesn’t put all her eggs in the dance basket, she has no chance of making it. Can you give us some advice based on your own experience?
