Police are still investigating so-far unconfirmed reports of a man riding around on a motorbike with a firearm, which sent a primary school into lockdown.
Officers received a report the man was acting suspiciously riding a black, red and white off-road dirt bike with his face covered about 11am on Monday.
There were also “unconfirmed” reports that the man may have been in possession of a firearm.
Police on Tuesday confirmed the investigation was ongoing and the reports were yet to be verified.
Middle Swan Primary School students were told to stay inside for a “brief period” by police as a precaution as police investigated the report, according to communication sent to parents on Monday afternoon.
“I am writing to inform you that students were kept in classrooms for a brief period today as advised by local police as a precaution,” principal Karen Sullivan said.
“At no time were any students in danger.
“If you have any questions about what happened today, please do not hesitate to contact me or another member of our administration staff.”
The message came after parents of students at St Anthony’s School in Greenmount were sent a text which said “one school” had gone into lockdown after an incident “in the local community”.
St Anthony’s students were also kept inside as a precaution.
“Please be advised that the children are being kept inside for lunchtime today and the Year 5 cross country event has been postponed. We will advise you by 2.30pm if there are any changes to our current pick up arrangements,” the text message said.
The report comes just days after Atlantis Beach Baptist College in Two Rocks was sent into lock down after a 15-year-old boy allegedly drove to the school with two firearms and fired three shots towards an occupied classroom.
The boy is due to appear in Perth Children’s Court on Wednesday for a bail application, with prosecutors flagging his charges may be upgraded.
