A New Mexico police officer died Sunday after being stabbed whereas responding to a report of trespassing, in keeping with officers.

Las Cruces Police Department patrol officer Jonah Hernandez responded to a name reporting trespassing within the 300 block of South Valley Drive at round 5 p.m. Sunday, the police division wrote on Facebook.
