Washington — Rep. Donald Payne Jr., a Democrat from New Jersey, has died at age 65, in response to New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy. 

Payne had been hospitalized since early April after he suffered “a cardiac episode based on complications from his diabetes,” his workplace stated in an announcement final week. It additionally stated he was being handled at a neighborhood hospital. The assertion adopted a report from the New Jersey Globe that stated Payne was unconscious and on a ventilator after a coronary heart assault on April 6.

He is survived by his spouse and their three youngsters.
