The Montreal Canadiens agreed to a three-year contract extension with goaltender Samuel Montembeault on Friday.

The contract, which runs till the top of the 2026-27 season, has an annual common worth of US$3.15 million

The 27-year-old Montembeault, of Becancour, Que, has appeared in 10 video games this season, boasting a file of 5-3-1 with a goals-against common of two.73 and a .910 save proportion.

Selected within the third spherical (77th total) by the Florida Panthers within the 2015 draft, Montembeault has performed 113 NHL video games, with each the Canadiens and the Panthers.

He is at present in his third season with the Canadiens and his fifth within the NHL.

In May, Montembeault backstopped Canada to the gold medal on the IIHF World Hockey Championship, ending the match with 5 wins, a goals-against common of 1.42, and a save proportion of .939 in seven video games.
