Israel has said that its forces have killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in Gaza.
Foreign Minister Israel Katz said on Thursday that Sinwar was “killed today by IDF [Israeli military] soldiers”. Shortly after, the Israeli military also said that Sinwar had been killed.
The Israeli military had been checking to confirm Sinwar’s identity after what it called an “operation” in Gaza that had killed three people.
Hamas has not commented on the Israeli claims.
