Events: Alibaba’s conversion of its secondary listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to a primary listing takes effect. Chile’s foreign minister Alberto van Klaveren continues an official visit to India.

Central banks: Israel’s central bank announces its interest rate decision, which it is forecast by a Reuters poll to hold at 4.5 per cent.

Economic data: Australia announces its consumer price index for July and second-quarter construction figures. The CPI is is forecast to fall from 3.8 per cent in June to 3.4 per cent, according to a Bloomberg poll.

Corporate updates: Chinese electric-vehicle maker BYD, food delivery platform Meituan, developer R&F Properties and offshore oil driller Cnooc report earnings, as does Australian miner Fortescue.
