Mines Rovers took first place in the Goldfields Football League’s women’s standings after Jada Hansen’s three goals last Saturday against Boulder underpinned a 57-point win, 10.9 (69) to 2.0 (12), at Digger Daws Oval.

The Diorites’ seventh victory was built on a dominant first half, when they outscored Boulder, seven goals to one.

Boulder fought back to hold the blue-and-whites to three second-half goals, but the damage had been done.

Hansen’s good work up forward was complemented by two goals apiece to Jess Bolton and Kasey Wiffen.

Tequilia LeBois kicked both of Boulder’s goals.

The result gave Mines Rovers a percentage advantage on the ladder over Railways, also on seven wins but an inferior percentage of 460.18, compared to the Diorites’ 463.79.

Railways’ three-goal final quarter last weekend against Kalgoorlie paved the way for a 15-point win, 5.7 (37) to 3.4 (22).

Kalgoorlie went into the half-time break with a solitary behind, but fought back with another 3.3 until the final siren.

Aylah McLean kicked two goals for Railways, who in 2024 are seeking a third consecutive grand final appearance since joining the GFLW.

Kalgoorlie are chasing a third successive GFL flag under Shane Coysh, but have lost a number of players from last year.

In this Saturday’s round, Kalgoorlie play Boulder at Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre at 9am and Mines Rovers host Kambalda at Digger Daws Oval from 11am.

Ladder:

Mines Rovers 30 points, Railways 30; Boulder 20; Kalgoorlie 8; Kambalda 0.

Leading goal kickers:

Marley Kelman (Railways) 15 goals; Wiebke Piringer (Kalgoorlie) 14; Amie Reid (Railways), Drew Epis (Railways), Chanelle Halligan (Mines Rovers) 10; Paris Ulijn (Boulder), Megan Bam (Railways) 9.
