After falling short in 2024 when they went out in the first week of finals at the hands of Brigades, Railways are back with a vengeance as fresh faces and fresh ideas set the scene for the Blues in 2025.

A disappointing end to season 2024 led to an internal review with coach John Reynolds indicating that the squad are on board with this season’s changes.

“Our guys are on board with what we’ve discussed in the offseason and our change in our game,” Reynolds said.

“Our game plan will change a little bit going into this year and we are really keen to see what the looks like come the first game.”

Arguably some of the biggest news in the offseason was the signing of Flynn Dillon to Railways from Northampton. The star tall returns home to the club where it all started as he gears up for the Blues in 2025.

“He (Dylan) is a great person to have on and off the field, so he’s a massive input for us, and we’ll build around him as well,” Reynolds said.

“To have him back at the club is started at is pretty cool so we are looking forward to seeing him this season.

“We also picked up Chris Scott from Rovers who has been a great leader so far for us, someone who is very valuable as a teammate.”

Railways also lost a few key players in the off-season, including those exploring new opportunities and the retirement of a club stalwart.

“I would have loved to have had Nathan Tubby in forever but he has pulled up stumps,” Reynolds said

“We also unfortunately lost Zane Marwick to Towns.”

The key for the Blues this year is an early start, according to Reynolds, with great emphasis being placed on making their home at The Rec a fortress.

“We need to hit the ground running,” he said.

“We pledge to ourselves that we make sure we win all our home games, and then we work from there.

“This is by far the best group that I’ve been able to work with, they’ve got the right mentality.

“If we can link things together and work together as a team, I’ve got no doubt in my mind that we can go all the way this year.”
