A new Home and Away promo released on Monday night shows Ethan Browne’s character Tane Parata is central to storylines shot recently when the soap travelled to Western Australia.

Until now, the precise details of how fan-favourite characters Brax (Stephen Peacocke) and Ricky (Bonnie Sveen), would return have been a tightly-held secret.

The promo shows the iconic Home and Away couple appearing to weigh up whether to help troubled Summer Bay resident Tane “disappear” to the isolated property they now call home.

Tane is at the centre of explosive storylines involving a run-in with his son Archie’s grandmother, Kerrie (Sara Wiseman), who is accusing him of kidnapping his boy — he is staring down potential jail time.

Will Brax and Ricky allow him to create a new life for himself with them in Western Australia?

“You two have a lot in common,” Ricky says in the promo, before adding, “Once a River Boy, always a River Boy,” in relation to her partner’s one-time association with the notorious Summer Bay gang.

As well as shedding new light on storylines, the newly-released trailer showcases more of Brax and Ricky’s new outback home.

“A world away from his surfer days in Summer Bay, Brax is now working on a remote cattle station deep in the outback,” an official release recently explained.

“Brax, Ricky and their son Casey have quietly built a whole new life in hiding, far-removed from the chaos they left behind.

“But the peaceful existence they’ve managed to maintain is about to come to an abrupt end, when a crisis from the Bay finds its way to Brax’s doorstep.

“While Ricky sees danger in jeopardising the trouble-free life they’ve worked so hard to protect, Brax finds himself torn between keeping his family safe and his loyalty to his River Boy brothers.”

The promo features shots of the family during a cattle muster and aboard a boat — there is also a sweet shot of Brax and Ricky on a beach, embracing.

Perth’s Elizabeth Quay is front and centre, with Tane and Brax pictured meeting at the picturesque spot.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted the pair filming late last year, though Seven had not confirmed Browne’s involvement until this week.

This is the first time in Home and Away’s 38-year history that the series has been filmed in Western Australia, with the episodes produced in partnership with Tourism Western Australia.

Episodes will be on air “soon”, according to a Seven spokesperson.
