Two people have died after a freight train and a ute collided in regional Victoria.
Emergency services were called to Cressy, north of Colac, around 10.15am on Tuesday.
Police raced to the scene near a railway crossing on Reddies Road, and around 100km west of Geelong.
Emergency crews believe the freight train ploughed into the car where the road crossed the tracks.
“Two occupants of the car, who are yet to be formally identified, died at the scene,” a police spokesperson said.
A train driver and two staff members were the only occupants of the freight train, with not information provided yet about passenger.
Victoria Police have launched an investigation into the crash.
Aerial pictures from after the crash show the train was stopped fully blocking the road, with debris from the crash trapped under the front of the train.

At the intersection, the tracks cross a dirt road.
The nearby Hamilton Highway is currently closed in both directions.
