ClearVue Technologies has entered into a non-exclusive manufacturing and distribution agreement with London-based glass fabrication company My Glass Projects (MGP) to produce and distribute ClearVue products in the UK.

The deal also grants MGP exclusive rights to incorporate its proven heated glass technology into ClearVue’s products which the companies hope will produce a new self-powered heated glass representing what would be, potentially, a significant leap forward for cold country glazing.

MGP is a long-standing glass producer with a history of innovation in specialist glass products, including architectural, structural, switchable, decorative and heated glazing and intelligent laminated products.

The company’s expertise also extends to project management, consulting, glazing applications and usage, function, design, engineering, sampling and testing.

Its record comes with the imprimatur including successful completion of a number of major international projects at New York City’s One World Trade Centre, Islamabad’s Defence Building and Hong Kong’s Hopewell Shopping Centre overlooking Victoria Harbour and the entire Wanchai area.

This partnership represents a significant opportunity for ClearVue to expand into new markets and introduce our innovative technology to a wider audience, including a new ‘heated glass’ product with valuable applications in cold climates as well as tropical climates to control external condensation. Combining My Glass Projects’ heated glass technology with our solar glazing solution has created another commercially-viable smart façade solution that takes autonomous glazing systems to the next level.

MGP was also chosen to provide its heated glass for the under-croft area at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC to control external condensation, with about 300 square metres of heated glass which MGP manufactured in its London factory and shipped to the US.

MGP has also assisted ClearVue in its collaboration with Netherlands-based eLstar Dynamics to produce a prototype demonstrator which combines ClearVue’s Solar Vision glass product with eLstar’s latest version of its electrophoretic light emulator (ELM) technology, adding what appears to be another dimension to control and use of light energy and ambience.

ELM enables control of the amount of solar energy entering a building – or vehicle – and can allow solar heat to enter when it is needed and to absorb the energy when not required, resulting in substantial energy savings and increased visual comfort at affordable costs.

This latest licence agreement builds on a collaboration agreement signed by the two parties in August 2022 laying the groundwork for future joint project development and initial testing of their combined technologies, with successful test results and demonstration of commercial viability leading to the new association.

My Glass Projects’ founder and managing director Mr Sunil Sharda said that the new partnership looks to be an important milestone for the company which will allow MGP to leverage its expertise in heated glazing technology with ClearVue’s solar photovoltaic solutions.

He also said the opportunity is enhanced by the fact that ClearVue’s solar façade integrates with standard building curtain-wall and framing systems which will allow MGP to use ClearVue’s Solar Vision glass, solar cladding, and solar spandrels for both new build and retrofit projects.

While much of our modern, everyday lives are spent indoors, new glazing technologies introduced by innovations such as these enable us to enjoy a sense of space and see clearly outside while enjoying and maintaining comfortable and almost infinitely controllable and energy-sustainable indoor environments.
