WASHINGTON: Celebrity chef Jose Andres instructed Reuters in an interview on Wednesday (Apr 3) that an Israeli assault that killed seven of his meals help staff in Gaza had focused them “systematically, car by car.”

Speaking in a video interview, Andres stated the World Central Kitchen (WCK) charity group he based had clear communication with the Israeli navy, which he stated knew his help staff’ actions.

This was not a “bad luck situation where, ‘oops,’ we dropped the bomb in the wrong place,” Andres stated. “Even if we were not in coordination with the (Israel Defense Forces), no democratic country and no military can be targeting civilians and humanitarians.”

The help staff had been killed when their convoy was hit shortly after they oversaw the unloading of 100 tons of meals delivered to Gaza by sea. Israel’s navy expressed “severe sorrow” over the incident and Prime Minister Netanyahu referred to as it unintentional.

Andres stated he was alleged to be in Gaza along with his group however for various causes “wasn’t able to go back again to Gaza.”
