A San Bernardo County Sheriff’s sergeant was shot twice Friday afternoon following a lethal shootout with a suspect at a fuel station in Victorville, California, authorities confirmed.
The 16-year veteran was shot in his thigh and shin and is predicted to outlive.
“I’m pleased to announce there are not going to be life-threatening injuries and our sergeant’s going to recover fully from this,” San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus instructed reporters in a Friday night press briefing.

He stated the sergeant was sporting a physique digital camera in the course of the shootout and there may be surveillance footage on the fuel station investigators will look via.
The suspect started firing on the sergeant after officers responded to the scene over stories of a person threatening a girl with a gun.

The sergeant, who has not been recognized, fired again on the suspect, killing him, Dicus stated.
The sergeant was airlifted to a hospital.
