Arson police are investigating a suspicious fire in the Perth Hills that came dangerously close to homes.

Emergency services were called to a large blaze in Boya Quarry Reserve about 4.50pm on Friday, with the fire threatening nearby properties.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before any homes were damaged.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services downgraded the bushfire warning to watch and act on Friday evening, with crews remaining onsite overnight.

Further fires flared in the early hours of Saturday morning across the Shire of Mundaring and City of Swan.

About 3.34am, residents in Bellevue, Greenmount and Koongamia were warned it was too late to leave, however firefighters were quick to contain the flames and no lives or homes were lost.

Police on Saturday said Strike Force Vulcan officers wanted to speak anyone who saw any suspicious people, vehicles, or activity in the area of the fire.

Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist, a police spokesperson said.
