The Cossack Art Awards are returning in 2025 with a vibrant program of exhibitions, workshops and community celebrations that put creativity front and centre.

The festivities kick off on July 19 with an invite-only preview and gala awards night, where winners will be announced across a range of categories.

The exhibition will open to the public on July 20 for Art in the Park — a family-friendly day featuring live local music, art activities, face painting, bouncy castles and a judge’s talk.

City of Karratha mayor Daniel Scott said the annual event was a highlight for the region.

“The Cossack Art Awards are a great opportunity to showcase local and national artists, and to bring people together in one of the Pilbara’s most unique locations,” he said.

“The program is diverse, inclusive and offers something for all ages.”

New to this year’s schedule is Cossack Art After Dark — a free night-time event featuring live music from electric music duo Set Mo, body art performances, a silent disco and a licensed bar.

Those who enjoy a spooky tale or two can join Ross Vegas on a night tour as he leads guests around Cossack’s historic old town by lantern and telling stories of past residents.

The community also has a chance to channel their inner artist with a range of events and workshops in Cossack, from weaving with artist-in-residence Monique Ross to an astrophotography session with Suzanne Jones and a paint and sip with Three Birds Creative.

The program will conclude with Fortescue Children’s Art Day, a community event offering children’s art activities, live entertainment, food vendors and a Tiny Traders Market.
