An AFLW star and firefighter will give the keynote address at a special International Women’s Day event in Kalgoorlie-Boulder next month.

The most decorated West Coast Eagle in the AFLW competition, Emma Swanson, has been announced as the keynote speaker for AusIMM’s International Women’s Day lunch series which will take place in seven locations, including Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

The event, whose inaugural edition took place in Kalgoorlie-Boulder last year, aims to bring together the mining industry, local businesses, students, and community members to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women in mining.

Swanson, who is also a firefighter, will share her experience building a career across two traditionally male-domination industries.

Her keynote presentation will share insights on leadership, resilience and driving positive change.

Attendees will enjoy a two-course lunch, celebrating with their teams and connecting with other professionals from across the Goldfields region.

The 2026 series’ theme, Driving Positive Change Together, highlights AusIMM’s commitment to elevating conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The WA School of Mines will host the Kalgoorlie-Boulder lunch on March 4.
