At Sunday’s Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift received album of the yr for “Midnights” and, for good measure, introduced a brand new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” due in April. Other massive winners included Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers (and boygenius), Killer Mike, Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish.
The present featured a number of shifting stay performances from elders: Tracy Chapman duetting with Luke Combs on “Fast Car,” a hanging Joni Mitchell singalong and a closing stomper from Billy Joel.
On this week’s Popcast, a dialog on whether or not this was the yr the Grammys obtained it appropriate, whether or not there was a niche between what the awards indicated and what the speeches have been saying, and the grounded pleasure of seeing worthy stars introduced again into the highlight correctly.
