Every year the Brownlow Medal is full of controversy as votes are analysed heavily by fans and experts.

But there may have been a weird case of mistaken identity in this year’s count with Collingwood star Nick Daicos appearing to steal a vote from his older brother Josh.

And it wasn’t missed by the two Magpies premiership stars, who were seen on the telecast realising the mistake.

Nick Daicos was awarded one vote in Collingwood’s round 13 win over Melbourne despite being subbed out of the game with injury.

The midfield star looked stunned as he received the vote after only collecting 15 disposals before he was taken out of the game.

Josh Daicos’ reaction was even better as he realised the umpires’ may have mistaken him for his younger brother after he had an incredible performance, finishing with a game-high 34 disposals.

The wingman can be seen clearly questioning if there had been a mistake and they got the wrong Daicos.

Even Collingwood have brought up the potential mistake, putting the video on their social media with the caption “When you steal from your brother”.

Nick Daicos went into the count as one of the favourites in only his third season, having polled 28 votes last year to finish third behind Brisbane’s Lachie Neale (31) and Western Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli (29).
