The Financial Times is now compiling its ninth annual ranking of the UK’s Leading Management Consultants, in conjunction with its research partner, Statista.

The industry is facing an uncertain time. Many public sector clients are cutting back as the government grapples with its finances, while private sector clients are dealing with an uncertain economic environment.

Consultants are also at the front line of the corporate shift to AI. This has the potential to increase demand from clients and improve their own productivity in the short term, while also raising questions about what the long-term future of the industry looks like.

Whether it is to help with restructuring or to advise on the next wave of automation, finding the best consultants with the right specialisms is essential for competitive organisations.

So to help with this task, the FT is again planning to identify those consultancies that are most respected by their peers and clients, in a variety of sectors.

We do this in three ways:

  1. An open survey of management consultants’ views of their peers, for which any may register from today;

  2. An open survey of the clients of management consultants, for which any may register, from today;

  3. An anonymous independent survey of the clients of management consultancies, recruited by Statista.

Partners or executives at management consultancies who wish to participate in the first survey are invited to register for the peer group survey here.

Clients that have worked with a management consultancy within the past four years are also eligible to register for the open survey here, using a business email address. Following registration, Statista will send a personalised survey link by email. In this survey, clients will have the chance to evaluate any consultancies they have worked with, which allows for a larger number of consultancies to be assessed.

Registration for these two open surveys will run from June 16 to August 15 2025. Participation is free, takes only a few minutes and carries no obligations after completion. Responses are anonymous and will be aggregated and analysed by Statista.

The anonymous client survey of roughly 1,000 senior executives who have previously used the services of management consultancies will be conducted by Statista in September. Respondents will be recruited through an online access panel to ensure independence.

Management consultants will be rated across 16 sectors and 15 different types of work. They may be standalone consultancies, the advisory divisions of auditing and accountancy firms, or the consultancy divisions of technology companies.

Consultancies being evaluated will have no input to this process. For further inquiries, please contact Statista at FTConsultants@statista.com.
