A tour bus traveling from Niagara Falls to New York City rolled over in Genesee County, New York, on Friday, killing multiple people and injuring at least two dozen others.
The crash, which involved a tractor-trailer and a tour bus carrying 54 people, happened around 12:30 p.m. near mile marker 4039 on the eastbound side of Interstate 90 in Pembroke, according to New York State Police.
Tpr. James O’Callaghan told Fox News Digital at least five people are dead, and several people are unaccounted for. Some passengers were ejected from the bus and others were trapped underneath it.
Erie County Medical Center confirmed it received 24 patients from the crash site, and 20 patients were actively receiving treatment in the emergency department.

Two patients were in the operating room, and several patients were in the trauma ICU, according to an ECMC spokesperson.

Several witnesses said that the bus lost control, crossed over the median and flipped on the shoulder, according to state police.

State police said mechanical error and impairment and intoxication of the driver have been ruled out. Charges are not being filed against the driver, who told police he was distracted and over-corrected.
Video footage is being recovered from the bus, and the Staten Island-based tour company, M&Y Tour Incorporated, is cooperating with authorities.
The bus was carrying passengers from China, India, the Middle East, the Phillipines and the United States.

As of 5:30 p.m., the bus was flipped upright and the highway was being reopened.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) told Fox News Digital it is sending a go-team to investigate. The bus was taken to state police barracks as evidence.
Pembroke is a rural town in Genesee County, about 45 minutes from Buffalo.
