The State Government has defended its rebranding of Perth’s train network as “Metronet”, saying election promise names in the past have been used for ongoing government programs — such as Medicare and the Royalties for Regions scheme.
Speaking at a press conference in Byford, Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the Metronet name, which would slowly be applied to new stations over the next year, could be scrapped by the Opposition if they chose to.
