It’s not often you see two of Australia’s greatest ever film and music exports share the screen, yet it’s the world of fashion and a love for Chanel that’s brought Margot Robbie and Kylie Minogue together in what feels like a full circle moment for the pair.
Recreating Kylie’s iconic video clip for her 2001 tune Come Into My World, directed by French filmmaker Michel Gondry, all three united for a new ad campaign promoting the CHANEL 25 handbag.
With Robbie mimicking the woman-about-town movements of her compatriot 25 years later, albeit in a Los Angeles studio and not a bustling Parisian street, a maelstrom of Margots poured out of the screen — each flashing a different shade of the trendy accessory.
The singer herself even appears for a split-second cameo.
“I’ve been dreaming about Kylie for 25 years,” Gondry told Vogue. “So I finally found a way to see her again.”

The first concert Robbie ever attended was in Sydney for Kylie’s Fever tour. And the adoration is reciprocated, with Kylie once admitting she’d pick the Wuthering Heights star to play her in a biopic.
“There’s nothing Margot can’t do,” she doubled down.
Although Robbie didn’t quite agree, thankful her fleet-footed performance for Chanel did not require words to leave her mouth at any point.
“It’s actually perfect, because I can’t sing. So I’m doing Kylie without having to sing and ruin it for everyone,” she teased.
Robbie recalled being inspired by the Gondry-shot video clip as a child.
“I remember watching it as a kid and thinking it was so cool and clever — the in-camera trickery he’s so famous for,” she added.
“So that’s what we’re recreating in this campaign.”
