A small paddock fire on the corner of Nanarup Road and Dempster Road in Kalgan has sparked a bushfire advice for the adjacent area, with no current threat to lives or homes.
The fire is moving in a south-easterly direction and is not contained or controlled.
The fire was reported just after 11am on Monday morning, and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services dispatched two volunteer fire and rescue crews to the scene.
Parks and Wildlife Services officers are also on scene assisting firefighting crews.
The advice area is bounded by South Coast Highway, Douglas Road, Mead Road, Dempster Road, and extends south of Nanarup Road in Kalgan and Lower King.
All roads in the area remain open, but drivers are urged to slow down and turn their headlights on, and follow all directions given by emergency services personnel.

WHAT TO DO
- Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.

- Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
- Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
- If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.
IF DRIVING
- Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
- Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
- If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
