Mt Barker have lived up to their usual fierce playing style and made a fast start in the Great Southern Football League Women’s grand final game, leaving Denmark Walpole trailing at quarter time.
A major from the Bulls’ Tajah Griffiths got things moving, and the Bulls chased the major with two minors to put them ahead of the Magpies by eight points (1.3) at quarter time, with the Magpies trailing with only one point on the board.
The Bulls and Magpies lined up at Collingwood Park for a historic final clash, with the Bulls out for back-to-back titles and the Magpies chasing a first flag.
The Magpie’s Erika Tharratt also celebrated her 50-game milestone, and the Magpies will be looking to claim their first GSFLW premiership title with a grand final win over the Bulls.
The two teams clashed in the qualifying final, and the Magpies came out victorious, but a convincing win in last week’s preliminary final from the Bulls made sure the reigning premiers were not counted out.
