Expressions of interest are still open for artists wanting to leave their mark in the Shire of Harvey.
Artists and creative teams are being called on to submit their interest for public art opportunities in Yarloop and Roelands.
Artists will have the opportunity to work with the respective communities to create meaningful artworks relevant to the area while celebrating local identity, history and character.
In Yarloop, the shire is looking for an artist to create an authentic mural reflecting the town’s character and identity.
With a community engagement workshop set to form part of the process, the artist will work with the community and shire officers to establish a design reflecting the local experience.
The total budget for the mural commission is $16,500, inclusive of GST, and includes coverage for the design and production of the mural, equipment and materials, briefing and process meetings and more.
Over in Roelands, the shire is looking to find an artist or creative team to create an eye-catching entry statement to showcase the area’s identify, heritage and community spirit.
Collaboration with the shire and community will be a crucial aspect of the mural which will need to meet public safety and Main Roads Western Australia requirements.
The successful artist will need to meet with shire officers to discuss requirements, facilitate a community workshop for input and feedback and design and create a double-sided entry statement which will last at least 20 years.
The final commission budget for the Roelands project will be $40,000 plus GST if applicable.
EOI should include contact details, examples of previous relevant work, an artistic statement outlining the project’s concept and an acknowledgment of ability to meet requirements and timeframes.
For the Roelands project, submissions must also include a statement outlining interest in the project or connection to the region.
Submissions for Yarloop’s project is set to close on February 28 while the closing date for the Roelands project has been extended with a new date set to be advised.
Submissions should be made to [email protected], while more information can be found on the shire’s website.
