A host of exciting young footy prospects hit the turf in Albany for a pre-season hit-out in front of the keen eye of WAFL club Claremont on February 15.
Claremont young gun Jack Wira was in his dad’s home city as his team of Claremont futures took on the Great Southern Storm at Tigerland.
Brad Wira played for Claremont, Fremantle Dockers and Western Bulldogs in an illustrious footy career which began at North Albany after his conversion from soccer.

Son Jack is an emerging Tigers midfielder who made the trip south for the match which allowed coaches and talent spotters to keep an eye on the next generation of footy stars.
The contest was one of the regular visits by Claremont to their Albany recruitment zone as the club has built up a great relationship with the Storm.
Claremont talent manager Lachie Davis said the trip had been a great experience for the Perth-based players who had to leave the city at 5am and return the same day.
The journey did not prove too much of a hazard as they beat Storm by 21 points, 6.7 (43) to 3.4 (22).

“It gave the metro boys a real insight about the sacrifices the regional players and their families have to make to play,” he said.
“It’s always really pleasing to come to our main recruitment zone as it showcases the football club and allows the players to get to know us and the coaches.”
