Chris Brown was arrested in England on Thursday for allegedly attacking someone at a London nightclub in 2023. He’s being charged with one count of causing grievous bodily harm.
On Friday, a British judge made the call to hold the rapper in custody until the next hearing in the case, which is scheduled for June 13. He had requested bail, and his defense attorney argued that he wasn’t a flight risk, but he was denied after a prosecutor described the crime he’s being accused of as “extremely serious.”
Brown, who appeared in sweatpants and a black t-shirt with bleached blonde hair, will also have his case transferred from Manchester Magistrates’ Court, where he appeared today, to Southwark Crown Court in London.

It’s unclear how this development will affect Brown’s upcoming tour – he was originally scheduled to kick off a world tour with an Amsterdam concert on June 8, followed by performances in Germany on June 11 and 13.
A representative for Brown did not immediately return Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

The Sun, who originally broke the news of Brown’s arrest, reported that music producer Abe Diaw claimed that he was hospitalized after the alleged “unprovoked attack” at the TAPE nightclub in February 2023.

Diaw alleged Brown hit him in the head with a bottle and punched and kicked him while he was on the floor. Diaw has filed a $16 million lawsuit against the musician.
This is not Brown’s first run-in with the police.

In 2009, Brown was arrested for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna. That same year, he pleaded guilty to felony assault. He was also arrested in 2013 on a felony assault charge after he and his bodyguard got into an altercation with another man outside a hotel in Washington D.C. He later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to time served.
According to People, Brown was also accused of raping a woman in October 2024 while on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ yacht. The alleged abuse is detailed in the Warner Bros. documentary, “Chris Brown: A History of Violence.”
Brown sued Warner Bros. in January, claiming to be falsely labeled as an abuser, the outlet reported. He is seeking $500 million in damages.
