Australians have delivered a blunt verdict on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s whirlwind visit Down Under, with the royal couple’s perception far from warm.

Prince Harry and Meghan were in Australia on a four-day tour visiting several locations in Melbourne and Sydney with a huge media throng in tow.

What Australians really thought about the royal visit was revealed in a Channel 7 Ray Morgan Poll that surveyed 1767 adults about their thoughts on the pair with astonishing results.

While millions of Australians knew the couple were visiting 81 per cent of respondents said their visit did not improve their opinion of them.

Even more people did not believe the visit would help Prince Harry repair his relationship with his father – with 87 per cent responding with “no” and only 13 per cent responding “yes”.

Three-quarters of respondents (75 per cent) did not see a more positive side of Meghan and 69 per cent responded they did not believe the Sussex’s had been treated unfairly by the Royal Family.

Asked if they would welcome Prince Harry or Meghan moving to Australia, 59 per cent responded with “no”.

51 per cent responded by saying they did not think the Queen would have approved of the trip “given Harry stepped back as a working royal”.

It was the first time the couple had visited Australia since stepping down as working royals in 2020.

They arrived on a flight from their US home last Tuesday and were whisked to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.

Meghan visited a women’s shelter and made a guest appearance on an episode of MasterChef, while Harry went to a veterans’ art museum.

In Sydney, the couple went sailing on the harbour with veterans from Invictus Australia and visited Bondi Beach where they talked with survivors of the terror attack and met with lifeguards.

They also watched the Waratahs play Moana Pasifika at Allianz Stadium before jetting home.
