Smoke is blanketing suburbs across Perth as fires burn in the east.
The haze is causing low visibility across parts of the metropolitan area and surrounding regions.
It is understood wind is blowing smoke towards the city from prescribed burns in the hills.
Several fires are active including in the Wandoo National Park, 30km west-south-west of Beverley and 25km south east of Mundaring.
A fire is also active in Chidlow’s Gorrie Forest.
Parks and Wildlife, which carries out the burns, has warned that smoke might reduce visibility on some roads.
Motorists are urged to take care, turn on their headlights and travel at appropriate speeds in smoke-affected areas.
Smoke-affected locals are advised to shut doors and windows, and turn off air-conditioners.
People with asthma and pre-existing respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses should follow their pre-prepared treatment plan.
People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstances.
