An urgent recall alert has been issued for a popular local beer sold at major alcohol retailers across Western Australia.
East Perth’s Bright Tank Brewing Co issued the warning for its West Side Hazy Pale 375ml (4.5 per cent ABV).
The beer has been on shelves at BWS, Dan Murphy’s and other independent alcohol retailers.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) said the problem was “secondary fermentation”, which can lead to over-pressurisation of the can and may cause it to burst, resulting in injury and making the beer dangerous to consume.
“Food products containing excess alcohol and carbonation may cause illness/injury if consumed,” FSANZ said.
“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”

Customers who purchased the beer have been urged to “not open or drink this product” and to “dispose of it safely”.
