BEIJING: China will impose additional tariffs of 10 per cent to 15 per cent on certain US imports from Mar 10, according to a statement from the Chinese finance ministry on Tuesday (Mar 4).
“An additional 15 per cent tariffs will be imposed on chicken, wheat, corn and cotton,” Beijing’s finance ministry said, adding “additional 10 per cent tariffs will be imposed on sorghum, soybeans, pork, beef, aquatic products, fruits, vegetables and dairy products”.
US President Donald Trump’s new 25 per cent tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada took effect on Tuesday, along with a doubling of duties on Chinese goods to 20 per cent, launching new trade conflicts with the top three US trading partners.
